Thank you for stumbling upon the place where I upload pictures. Please check out any of the galleries to the left. At the moment only the Nature gallery is populated because that is where the vast majority of my photography takes place.
I enjoy capturing and sharing the interesting things I have been lucky enough to observe. Hopefully one of these photos will insipre you to go out and see the world through a different lens.There's a lot to see, so start early.
It's only been about a year since I began to learn the basics of photography, and I'm still learning new tricks. The biggest one is to buy expensive glass. Unfortunately that one will have to wait, but in this day of digital photography some things can be done with software that Ansel Adams only dreamt about.
I began editing photographs solely in Adobe Lightroom which is a great place to start. The software is inexpensive, but extremely powerful. Even if you have ambitions of learning Photoshop and doing intensive pixel-level editing, Lightroom is the best place to start because it gives you access to all the 'rough' controls, but doesn't let you get into too much trouble. Diving right into Adobe Photoshop can be overwhelming.
The best tip is simply to find the type of photography you enjoy and then take a lot of pictures. Seems obvious, but even in my short experience I can cringe when I look back at photographs from just a few months ago when I hadn't been careful, or hadn't yet learned that new trick. If you're like me and enjoy landscape photography over everything else, then learn to get up early and skip dinner often. It'll pay off.
